One Mom, On a Mission to Find a Fitness Purpose to Laundry

What if housework became a workout instead of JUST a chore? First off, I am already in somewhat workout attire. And, this challenge is exactly what I need to reenergize myself. “Go Mama Go!”

One Mom, On a Mission to Find a Fitness Purpose to Laundry

It seems like my Facebook feed is filled with incredible moms that miraculously have found the time to make it to the gym. I envy all of you. My current situation is staring me right in the face as I write this blog post. I will save you the suspense. Laundry.

The laundry list always seems to be growing doesn’t it?

I’ve decided if you can’t beat em’ join ’em and this will be the perfect inspiration for my blog post this month. I have challenged myself to combine the two.. Laundry + Workout.

Confession: I am so unmotivated to make it to the gym today .. this week.. this month, and let’s face it-the laundry HAS to get done and is piling up! (Caleb has informed me ALL of his Pokemon shirts are dirty.)

I love the feeling of a great workout. I also LOVE the feeling of accomplishment when laundry is done and other household chores are finished. Are you in??! Hey, let’s do this together!

Here’s my step by step quick routine. I hope this inspires you to try my Fitness Purpose to Laundry and even come up with your own household chore workout to share with me!

Actual laundry load used in this post. #nofilter

LET’S DO THIS!!!!!!

With all this sweat. I could do another load!

STEP ONE: PICK UP LAUNDRY BASKET FULL OF DIRTY LAUNDRY AND.. SQUAT!

The beauty of this simple exercise is that the larger the laundry load..the heavier the basket.. the harder the workout! While holding the load of laundry, I started with SQUATS!

Keep the squats coming!

STEP TWO: LOAD THE WASHER QUICK! QUICK! QUICK!

I did a couple sets of squats with my overloaded laundry basket. Phew! Not that I am a fitness expert or anything but my thighs were burning. Definitely beats going to the gym today AND I am accomplishing this chore at the same time. #winning

Time to switch it up.

STEP THREE: GET THOSE CLOTHES INTO THE WASHER

I thought of what the next exercise would be and determined filling the washer quickly can break a sweat if you hold the squat position.

STEP FOUR: (Any over achievers?) As the wash is going, this could be the perfect time to get a FULL work-out in. There are home fitness channels on YouTube I want to learn from but.. I would LOVE to learn from YOU!

Mamas, in the comments below please let me know your favorite workout! Especially if it is at home and incorporates household chores into the workout.

Share your photos with me and let’s start this motivating social media challenge with the hashtag #thelaundrychallengeaccepted
