The Coloring Table

My kids love a family activity. If we put the word “family” in front of any activity, it is automatically the best: family hike, family hug, family pizza party, family date night, family clean-the-house day (that one hasn’t caught on yet!). My husband and I try to keep electronics out of our family time, which allows us to focus on each other and really experience the time we are spending together.

Last night, when my kids asked if we had a family activity to do, I didn’t have anything planned because it was 6pm on a school night and I was ready for them to go to bed. But then I remembered I had The Coloring Table tablecloth! This was the perfect family activity because it was quiet, mess-free, Christmas-themed, and most importantly, NOT AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE! Those are all of my favorite things rolled into one family activity!

I didn’t have to pull out the craft box. I didn’t have to pull out the paint. I didn’t have to pull out sugary treats. My kids didn’t lose their minds because of technology… All I did was put The Coloring Table mat on the table and hand the kids a box of markers. This was the perfect “witching hour” (a.k.a. pre-dinner) electronic-free family activity.

This coloring table was created by a mom to provide entertainment to kids and can be used as a lasting keepsake of a special event, or a reusable item for any gathering. The tablecloths are washable and wrinkle-free! They have a special patent-pending, laminated backing that has been tested to protect furniture from bleeding, too. And fyi, for best results, use Ultra-Washable Crayola markers so your kids can enjoy the tablecloth multiple times! We used the Crayola washable markers because I wanted to reuse this over and over!

My kids sat and colored together SILENTLY for an hour. They only stopped because it was time for bed! I can’t remember the last time they were still, didn’t fight, and enjoyed being creative.

While they colored, I did the dishes and watched them from the kitchen. After a few dishes, I decided that coloring looked like more fun, and I got in on the action, too! They loved having my presence and focus at the table. We colored, laughed, and talked about their day at school. It was a sweet moment for my family. The Coloring Table not only offered us an activity to fill time but an experience that we get to enjoy again.

I plan to pull this out for all of our family Christmas parties. It’s the perfect way to keep the kids entertained throughout the holiday season! It would also make a great gift for a wide range of ages.

I love that this is a company run by a mom whose goal is to provide families with a relaxing and creative way to spend time together and share memories. The Coloring Table is a simple solution to slowing down and enjoying those around us (or to keep your kids busy for a little while before bed)! Interested in learning more?
