A Guide to Gluten-Free Restaurants in Collin County

If you are trying to avoid gluten, eating out can be tough. Typically, your choices are limited (salad anyone?), or you’re worried about cross contamination. However, as education increases on the benefits of a gluten free diet, more and more restaurants are trying to accommodate.

Whether you’re celiac, gluten sensitive, or just prefer to eat gluten free, there is no reason you shouldn’t be able to enjoy a meal out. Here are 7 gluten friendly restaurants to try in Collin County.

Gluten Free Restaurants Collin County

Quick word of caution, there is only one restaurant on here that is completely 100% gluten free and only one other that has been officially certified by the Gluten Intolerance Group. So while the remaining restaurants have great reviews on gluten free practices, please inform the server, manager, and/or chef of your sensitivity so they can make appropriate accommodations. And while cross contamination might be slim, it is still a possibility.

Unrefined Bakery (Frisco)

This delicious bakery offering everything from custom cakes and cupcakes, to muffins and breads, is 100% gluten free. They also do a wonderful job accommodating other allergies such as soy, dairy, and nuts. I love that I can walk into this bakery and not worry about a thing.

California Pizza Kitchen (Frisco, Plano)

Very few restaurants have been certified by the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG), however California Pizza Kitchen is one of them. According to GIG, restaurants with this certification are proactive in meeting very high standards in order to provide safe, gluten free food options. Looking for a yummy gluten free pizza that’s free of contaminants? Then check out California Pizza kitchen. Read Collin County Moms Blog latest review on CKP here.

TruFire Kitchen & Bar (Frisco)

Looking for choices? Check out TruFire Kitchen & Bar. They have a pretty extensive gluten free menu, including hummus and crab dip, sandwiches with gluten free pita bread, 9 different salads, and pasta made with rice noodles. You can even round out your meal with a serving of flourless chocolate cake.

Mash’d (Frisco)

Looking for a signature cocktail to compliment your meal?  Mash’d has a great cocktail menu that pairs nicely with a variety of gluten free choices. If you’re looking for spinach dip, wings, or “legit guacamole,” or maybe you’re craving ribs, shrimp, or a juicy hamburger, then Mash’d is the place to be.

Modern Market (Plano)

Hailing from Boulder Colorado, this artisan fare restaurant makes almost everything from scratch. Their menu offers a variety of gluten free options from delicious salads and sandwiches to pizza and home-style sides.  Searching for farm fresh, healthy ingredients, check out Modern Market.

LYFE Kitchen (Plano)

This contemporary “health casual” restaurant strives to provide well balanced, artfully composed meals. Their mission, as stated on their website, “is to consistently provide flavorful, nourishing experiences and extraordinary service.” Check out LYFE Kitchen if you’re in the mood for soups, salads, or flatbreads made from fresh, high quality ingredients.

Two Rows Classic Grill (Allen)

While the gluten friendly menu is on the smaller side, it has a wide variety of options, from fried pickles and chicken tenders, to grilled tilapia and chicken parmesan.

Honorable Mentions

There are quite a few other restaurants in the area that offer gluten free menu items. However, I’ve found either mixed reviews or no reviews regarding cross contamination. That said, if you’re celiac proceed with caution, but if you’re only gluten sensitive or gluten free by preference, give these locations a try.
