Hanging with Heroes :: A Look Back at CCMB’s 1st Family Event

This event recap includes links to our event sponsors. All opinions are 100% our own!

Before hosting our first family-friendly event, Collin County Moms Blog needed 3 elements to fall into place.

We needed the “right” venue. We needed the perfect theme. We needed families to WANT to come. With the help of our host venue, The Shops at Willow Bend, all 3 elements fell easily into place with Hanging with Heroes!

Hanging with Heroes combined all of our favorites: Food, Fun, and Heroes!

The Shops at Willow Bend provided a fantastic space near the food court that allowed us to partner with local shops and restaurants to make this event a one-stop-shop for families. Sonic, Great American Cookies, and Chick-Fil-A were all on hand to provided samples to our VIP Guests, and our friends at KIND Snacks and High Brew Coffee provided some great treats for kids and parents while they waited to see their favorite heroes!

When all of our heroes arrived, seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces made all the hard work that went into this event so worth it! We loved that children of all ages were eager to meet fictional heroes like Batman & Wonder Woman as well as real-life heroes like the Plano Police Department and Plano Fire & Rescue. {Unfortunately, our friends with EMS were called away on an emergency.}

Families could also enjoy our complimentary face painting and hero-themed crafts!

Of course, what made this event possible was all due to the help of our amazing sponsors like The Children’s Courtyard. Our complete list of attendees is listed below, but we wanted to also say a special thank you to BBVA Compass, Emler Swim School – Dallas, Jungle Joe’s, Kidventure, TopGolf – The Colony, and Wise Orthodontics who were all present to provided great prizes, crafts, and giveaways to our Hanging with Heroes attendees!

We had such a great time at our first family-friendly event that we’re already in the works for planning our 2nd event this Winter! We cannot wait to meet even more of our Collin County families in person.

We hope to see you at future CCMB events, so be sure to stay connected to Collin County Moms Blog on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter OR get event information sent straight to your Inbox by subscribing to our weekly newsletter! {No SPAM! Just great content once a week!}

Krystal Hurst
Krystal is a Dallas-native who began her career as a fourth grade teacher in Richardson RISD, but quickly changed paths to became a stay-at-home mom in 2011. Through a happy coincidence, she stumbled upon (what was then known as) Dallas Moms Blog in 2012 and found a community she’d been looking for since coming a mom. Shortly after joining the team, she gratefully accepted the “baton” passed to her as new owner of the site, and took off with it running full speed! Krystal not only helped to grow Dallas Moms into a large parenting resource, but also launched Collin County Moms in 2016; providing those in the north Dallas suburbs their community resource platform. While building a community, uniting the moms, and growing a business around this passion was a dream come true, after almost 10 years, Krystal officially stepped down as owner, and is now focusing on raising her 4 boys with her husband, Tim, and rediscovering old hobbies.
