Finding the right creative program for your preschooler can be a daunting task, especially when you’re faced with a plethora of choices. North Texas Performing Arts, with its 26-year history of teaching students, has the answer. The North Texas Performing Arts STARters program not only offers a variety of artistic media for your newborn to 5-year-old, the programs they offer are stellar and are taught by professional arts educators. Whether you’re looking for Kindermusik, drama, art, or dance classes for your preschooler, the NTPA STARters program has you covered!

Each class aims to further develop your child’s social, cognitive, emotional, communication, sensory, and motor movement skills through the arts. You might be thinking, “Where do I start?” It’s easy! Think about what your child enjoys and go from there!

If your child loves to listen to music, make music, dance around the living room, and sing songs that have movement involved, they will have a blast at Kindermusik! The goal of Kindermusik is to make learning fun by advancing minds through research-based curriculum. Kiddos who attend Kindermusik will work on developing their brain and body by engaging in interactive music-making that is both playful and incredibly fun! Their Foundations class, for newborn to 2-year-olds, focuses on creating an environment for caregiver and child that is full of exploration. Children ages 3-5 will strengthen their social and communication skills in the Level 3 class by stimulating their imagination through their love of music and movement.

Toddler Drama Classes

Children who have fun playing pretend, acting out stories, and using their imaginations will love the drama classes at NTPA. Three-to-5-year-olds will have the opportunity to listen to stories, bring to life the characters they hear about, and engage their creative sides while further growing their communication, social, and gross motor movement skills.

Toddler Art Classes

Kiddos who have fun drawing, crafting, painting, and creating will feel right at home in a STARters art class. Preschoolers who are 3-5 will learn all about visual art by drawing and painting the stories they hear read to them. They’ll boost their listening and fine motor skills, all while exploring their love of art.

Toddler Dance Classes

There is no greater joy than watching your child dance and move to music! If your preschooler cannot get enough of listening to music and dancing – or even dancing without music, like my youngest, STARters dance classes will bring them so much happiness! Three-to-5-year-olds will learn the basics of dance in each class they attend. They will dance, exercise, and have an amazing time strengthening their gross motor and spatial-awareness skills in a sensory-rich environment.

Jessica, a native of North Texas, lives in Wylie with her husband of 8 years, David. She is an elementary teacher, turned stay-at-home mom, turned preschool teacher. When she’s not up to her elbows in a random project, writing and re-writing lesson plans, or reading (trying to finish?) a good book, she and her husband are busy raising their three incredibly amazing kids: Emily, who just started Kindergarten, loves science, and wants to be a chemist when she grows up, Liam, a 3-year-old who can always be found playing with trains and building intricate tracks, and Charlotte, a 1 ½ year old who enjoys dragging her Lambie around and belting out songs in the middle of the store/doctor’s office/library. Jessica graduated from UT Dallas with a degree in Literary Studies and then went on to receive her teaching certification from Texas A&M Commerce. She has taught private school in Garland and public school in Plano ISD. She is currently teaching at a preschool in Wylie where her middle and little also attend. She thinks it’s great that she’s right down the hall from them and is happy to be back in the classroom!
