7 Days of Indoor Play in Collin County

This post has been sponsored by Small Pockets to bring you details on indoor play spaces. All opinions are 100% our own!

Time for an indoor play update! Since our last post, several new spots have popped up in the area, and we wanted to add our favorites to the list. Summer’s coming on strong, and we need that A/C-based playtime.

Hot tip: Check the Instagram or Facebook accounts of any place that requires paid admission. I’ve noticed that many of them will post deals that aren’t promoted on their websites.

Small Pockets (Dallas)

Let’s talk about Small Pockets first since they’re our sponsor and you may not have heard of them before. It’s a high-end new & consignment shop for children in Dallas – they also do maternity consignment and monogramming for in-store purchases. From Janie & Jack to crewcuts to boutique brands…you’ll really love the curated selection. And you’ll also want to know about their downstairs Tea Room. Aside from being an adorable birthday tea party spot, they host a free Story Time on Fridays and Open Play while you shop. You can even reserve the play area at no cost for your next playdate meetup, which is a very VIP move. Can’t beat free!

HOURS: Open Play is available anytime the room is not booked for an event.
Store hours are Monday-Friday 10am-5:30pm; Saturday 10am-5pm.
Story Time is Friday 10:30-11am.

COST: Story Time, Open Play, and Playdate reservations are FREE.
Email them at [email protected] if you want to reserve a time and date for your playdate group.

Play Street Museum (Multiple area locations)

Hard to believe anyone doesn’t know Play Street by now, what with all their rapid growth. Locations in Dallas, Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, and more (Prosper and Murphy branches on the way), each one with its own super cute theme. Littles love it here! They’ve got free WiFi, and although there is no food allowed, feel free to bring drinks for you and the kids. Oh, and they do ask that you leave your stroller at home so things don’t get too jammed up inside.

HOURS: Open Play Monday-Friday, exact hours vary by location. Special events and Open Play by Reservation on weekends. See the event page of your closest Play Street for weekend offerings.

COST: $11.50 per child ages 1-8; children younger or older are free if accompanied by a paying sibling; no charge for adults.

EQ Kids Club (Frisco)

This indoor safari play village is very purposeful about learning through play and engaging all the senses. Like Play Street, they keep things nice and organized and clean, just like we like it. Your kids will be obsessed with the light show sandbox. Our friend Missy over at Dallas Moms says both her 11-month-old and 3-year-old have a blast here, and it’s her favorite play area in town, hands down. This is a no shoes/no socks kind of place. Keep an eye out for Groupons!

HOURS: Open Play is Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
Special Summer Sundays Open Play from 10am-3pm (subject to change, call to confirm).
See calendar for monthly parent-child workshops.

COST: $12 per child (up to age 8) for up to 2 hours play; children under 1 are free with a paying sibling or $6 on their own; no charge for adults. Admission includes adventure snack and your choice of tea. Memberships available.

Jungle Joe’s (Frisco)

This Frisco spot bills itself as a healthy cafe where kids can play. Catering to a slightly younger crowd, they have a floor-to-ceiling play structure, along with pretend play, arts & crafts, and books. It’s not a huge place, meaning it’s easy to keep an eye on your children at all times. Free WiFi, so bring your laptop! No outside food or drink allowed. And everyone needs socks, even you.

HOURS: Monday-Thursday 9am-6pm; Friday & Saturday 9am-8pm; Sunday 11am-6pm

COST: 1 and under: $4.99; 2 years: $8.99; 3 years+: $10.99; no charge for adults

Little Humans Big Fun (Frisco)

Intended for ages 12 months to 8 years, although all are welcome (the sweet spot is probably ages 3-6). Lots of hands-on play and opportunities for problem solving and creativity. Kids love the car mechanic center where they can work under the hood of a play car. There’s more of a children’s museum vibe here compared to your standard run-around-and-play places, with an intentional focus on STEAM activities. Free coffees, lattes, and teas for the grown ups and you can bring food/snacks for the kiddos.

HOURS: Open Play Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm; Saturday 9-10:30am; Sunday 9-11:30am

COST: $13 for first kid, $11 for each additional. No charge for adults. Under 1 and over 11 are free with one paid admission.

Cheeky Monkeys (Plano)

This one is pretty new to the area, for kids ages 10 months to 8 years old. They have padded playscapes and obstacles, a separate soft play area for kids under 4, and daily activities such as instructor-led arts & crafts, story time, puppet shows, yoga, and more. Socks required for all. There’s a cafe area in the center where you can have a snack or a sandwich, and free WiFi if you need it. Fairview location coming soon!

HOURS: Monday-Thursday 9am-6pm; Friday-Sunday 9am-9pm

COST: $11.99 for first hour/$3 for each additional hour; no charge for adults.

Safari Run (Plano)

A nice clean place to go where kids up to age 11 can burn some energy. Obstacles, slides, a multi-level playscape, and room to run around, plus a separate space for toddlers to play freely. They also have an arcade (games require coins). No outside food allowed, but there are snacks and drinks available to purchase in the lobby. Everyone needs socks in the play area. Look for Groupons here, too!

HOURS: Open Play Monday-Friday only. Usually 9:30am-7:30pm but check the calendar because this can change.

COST: $12 per child for unlimited play; no charge for adults or children under 1. Memberships available.

Where do you like to take the kids for indoor play?

  1. Sensoryfunfromdayone off Eldorado and Lake Forest is a great place for little ones. Plus, Jungle Joes is another indoor fun place like Safari run but smaller.
